Night Swim
NIGHT SWIM by Victoria Rivera is the story of three teenage girls who break into an NYC swimming pool after hours. When unwanted guests show up, their friendship is tested and one of them is left behind.
This is an unconventional coming-of-age story. I found it remarkable for its ability to convey story and emotion through the actors facial expressions. The lead (Adriana Santos) bears the emotional weight of teenage insecurity really well and is able to elevate the film to have the emotional impact it does.
Victoria (along with Charlotte from last weeks short) is a student at Columbia's MFA program. She is working on her debut feature MALPELO with a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
