Citizen DJ

New Music Friday features a new Drake album, HAIM album, and a Megan Thee Stallion Savage Remix with Beyonce.

The Library of Congress has just released the “Citizen DJ” app, which offers royalty-free samples for hip-hop enthusiasts. Citizen DJ was created to hopefully recapture the ‘80s and ‘90s golden age of hip-hop sampling, and allows you to remix sounds from its massive collection of film, television, video and sound recordings.

Lebron James is throwing a virtual graduation ceremony for the high school class of 2020, which will air pretty much everywhere  on Saturday May 16 at 8pm ET. That includes all the networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC), and top social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, PeopleTV, and Complex Networks. Guests include The Jonas Brothers, Ben Platt, Lena Waithe, Pharrell Williams, Malala Yousafzai, and Tik-Tokers Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.

Tik Tok - @chrisellelim

One of the sole influencers offering a parental bend to their posts, Chriselle Lim confidently opens each video with “Hey kids, it’s me: your rich mom” and offers a refreshing variety of posts from on-trend skits on how she takes breaks from parenting  and fashion tutorials and ernest advice on marriage and entrepreneurship. She nicely balances straightforward candor with irreverent flexing to a growing viewership of 1.5 million followers.

Two Toks that brought me joy this week: this mom’s energy we all should be going into the weekend with and this accurate portrayal of a maid of honor speech
