There's nothing quite like the rush of adrenaline coursing through your veins, right?
Entertainment is only entertaining when it’s intense, don’t you think? You’re drawn to gripping movies that make it impossible to pick up your phone or multi-task while they’re playing. Seeing a well-written character navigate a dark, perhaps even bleak situation is like catnip to you. Watching someone teeter on the brink of disaster and then pull it together gets you going. You’re here for real-life stories that prove that truth is stranger than fiction. While others may be turned off by ominous endings that aren’t wrapped up in a neat little bow, you live for them—and maybe even feel like a typical “happy ending” can ruin an otherwise great movie.
Here are three films we think you will love, personalized from your unique taste:
MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001)
Dir. David Lynch
MULHOLLAND DRIVE is dream-like, and, like dreams, it doesn’t entirely make sense but it leaves you wanting more. The shady twists and turns of the film follow Betty, an actress who just arrived in Los Angeles, and Rita, who got into a car crash and is suffering from memory loss. It’s unique and hazy and and glamorous and nonsensical and intriguing. Overall, it is simply a vibe and you must watch and let yourself soak it in.
Check this one out if you are down to spend the rest of your night dissecting everything you just watched. You’ll love it if you also liked INCEPTION or AMERICAN BEAUTY.
GOOD TIME (2017)
Dir. Josh and Benny Safdie
Fair warning that this one is stressful—but something tells me you’re up for it. The story follows a pair of brothers who are caught up in a world of crime. It’s intense and thrilling, and unexpectedly dark in its humor. And when you look a little deeper, you’ll see the film packs a lot of meaning and emotion into it. Plus, this is Robert Pattison at his best, delivering an amazing performance.
Check this one out if you want to see a new version of Robert Pattinson. You’ll love it if you also liked UNCUT GEMS or DRIVE.

HIS HOUSE (2020)
Dir. Remi Weekes (United Kingdom)
HIS HOUSE is both terrifying and moving all at once. And it gives you a dose of medicine along with a spoonful of sugar. Director Remi Weekes uses the haunted house genre to deftly and beautifully show the true cost of the humanitarian crisis that's ongoing in Europe. A young couple's journey to survive their circumstances and fight for a normal life gives a face to the seemingly insurmountable obstacles refugees face.
Check this one out if you’re okay with potentially having nightmares later. You’ll love it if you also liked GET OUT or HEREDITARY.
